A job interview is nothing but a skillful social conversation. It is going to be formal or informal depends on the people and your first impression you put on them.
The basic things the employers look are your qualification, work experience, stable work history, interest in work, communication skill, and how much money do you want?
The sole purpose of interviewing is to know ARE YOU FIT FOR THE PARTICULAR JOB OR NOT? An undecided or tentative attitude has no place in any company. Many people appear for interview without proper knowledge of the kind of work the company have. So many times people are even not aware that for which post the company is taking interview. This type of habit is just like shopping around from company to company, which is a serious mistake. Proper preparation can make a difference between receiving and not receiving a job offer. It is always better if you do some research work. See the web site or PR newsletter of the company. Find out the projects for which the company is going to hire new employees.
Now take time to prepare question that may be asked in the interview. It is not a difficult task; take help from your seniors or your relatives who are working in such companies. In most of the interviews the common questions asked are like; “why do you want work with us”? “What kind of experience you have?” “ How long would you stay with us?” “ Can you work under pressure?” and so on…almost same question are asked to all candidates for a particular job. So prepare to give smarter answer. When there are so many candidates for few vacancies, a smart answer does give the impression, which matters a lot. Find out probable answer, which is present in the mind of the employer. If you have read the web site of the company, and have done some research work you can certainly come to know the projects and type of people the company is in search of. Try to give answer in such a way that you know better about the need and kind of work of the company.
When they ask about the work experience, make it a point to sell you self. You not only give information of your past work which was very similar to companies project but also share your home work preparation which may have the solution of the employers problem. The employers are very much interested to choose those people who can give the solution of problems that a project may have. They may ask you question with examples of their own project, and if you have prepared well and have gathered information from the companies web site you can certainly give more appropriate answer than others.
If you answered well and our employers have satisfied by your answer, then they will certainly ask you “HOW LONG WOULD YOU STAY WITH US”? The interviewer might be thinking of offering you job. But they are aware that the market place is such that new hires often do not stay more than two years. So your answer might be like “ I would like to work and really want to cattle down this big company. As long as I am growing professionally there is no reason for me to make a move. Many unskilled interviewers may ask you questions like “can you work under pressure”? “What are your hobbies”? And many more silly question, in such cases don’t give straight forward answer rather make it a point to gave a huge impression on his mind by giving example which may hit him very positively. At the last hour of your interview if you asked HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU WANT? It simply mean that you have passed the interview and now answer of this question only will decide your fate weather you will get the job or not? Remember every company has salary ranges, for every job. So giving an ill-considered answer can reduce your job offer chances to zero. So answer this question very diplomatically. Say I am making this amount Re……. But I will seriously consider any reasonable offer you care to make me…
