New Academic session of Aligarh Muslim University has just started. Admission process of some bachelors and Maters are still going on… fresher are being welcomed. But on the other hand DSW (Dean Students’ Welfare) and Proctor has taken their position according to the Hon’ble Supreme Court decision related to completely ban on ragging in Universities and Educational Institutions.

According to the Sources, DSW and Proctor are ordered to follow Supreme Court and UGC directives tightly. Concerned authorities gave a clear message that ragging or Introduction in any form as an act of indiscipline and misconduct and the students including in such act shall be punished as per rules prescribed in the AMU students’ Conduct & discipline Rules, which may include suspension or even expulsion of the students from the rolls of the university or a Fine Rs 500/. Extendable up to Rs 2500/.

To make this order more credible, concerned authorities has decided to take an undertaking from the each student to the effect that he or she shall not take part in any form of ragging and shall abide by the rules prescribed for the purpose.

Preliminary orders and actions have revealed the authorities had taken basic anti-ragging measures laid down by the university just on the start of the session, including setting up of an anti-ragging squad or appointing a disciplinary resource person.

No doubt these measures had especially been setup for the hostels, where most ragging complaints come from.
