Prof.M.Z.Abdin(Alig) has joined as the new Vice Chancellor(VC) of Rajasthan's Singhania
University today,Wednesday, dated 06.08.08.
Prof.Abdin is an old boy of AMU Aligarh who had passed his B.Sc(Botany) and M.Sc(Botany) from AMUA was the Head of the Deptartment of the Biotechnology in the Jamia Hamdard University,New Delhi.
He is just sweet 44 years old only and becomes the youngest ever VC of any University in India as an old Boy of AMUA.
A renowned,Bio-Scientist has won many awards and medals in his field. He had joined Jamia Humdard as lecturer in 1990 became Reader in 1997 and Professor in just 8years time in 2005.
He had done Ph.D in young age and,immediatey,qualified the NET in 1985 and joined JNU as Research Fellow and then jumped to become Lecturer in JHU,New Delhi.
He had visited various countries,like,China(2004)Hungary(2002),Germany(2001),Japan(1997),Australya(1993) and France(1990), as a Bio-Scientist and wrote Books and published 72 vauable articles.He has been the guide to 20 Ph.D.students,so far. And he has attended 24 national and 08 international Seminars/Symposia and Worshops etc. and also organised national and international Seminars/Symposia and workshops too.
His countinous efforts,sincere dedication and with focussed mind has brought him uptu such a higher cadre and that too in such a young age.We Aligs are all proud of such Sweet 44 Scientist-cum-Administrator-turned-VC.
I knew him since long from AMU days and later on I met him in Delhi in the house of my classfellow and friend Dr.Jafar Salamat Khan( an ex-student of Engg.College,AMUA who did his Ph.D. in Electrical Engg.from AMUA) a very Senior Officer in CSIR,New Delhi, who had been granting him important and costly projects involving lacs of rupees,since,long from his desk as a Senior Scintist-F) of CSIR.
Dr.Jafar Khan has also been awarding various Research & Devlopment Projects,involving, croes of rupees to other Universities,including,AMUA also. Dr.Abdin was a very regular and sincere visitor to Dr.Khan's house and,thus, I used to meet me over there.
I just talked to him on my phone and congratulated him.He told me that he was given a rousing welcome,there when,he reached there today at 13.30Hrs(IST) at the Chancellor's Lodge. Later on,he addressed a press conference and after that he was taken round the Campus.
He was very happy with the atmosphere and the people of that University.
He had also taken,alongwith,him another staff member of JHU,New Delhi,Mr.Shaukat Mufti(Assisstant Registrar JHU) as Director General(Administration). He told me that DG(Admn) is just like a Registrar of any University.
The current VC of AMUA prof.P.K.Abdul Azis has also brought alongwith him,from Keral his State,Prof.Jalil(a Professor of Hindi in Kerala),as the Registrar of AMUA.
He was talking to me from the VC Lodge,today(06.08.08 at about 19.44HRS;IST Wednesday). He was very delighted with the reception given to him before the Chancellor Mr.D.C.Singhania and the teachers,students and staff of the University. He is on a three year probation innitially.
