Aligarh : 25 june 2008: the central universities research scholars' association (cursa) submitted a memorandum to union minister for hrd shri arjun singh through the district megistrate, aligarh demanding enhancement of university grant commission (ugc)  fellowship granted to ph.d and m. Phil scholars/students for all central universities.

The memorandum draws attention of hrd minister towards the fact that due to steep price rise, it has become very difficult for the scholars/ students to persue their research works. Cursa has been demanded that fellowship to ph. D students be raised fron rupees 5,000/- per month to 10,000/- per month and m.phil students from 3,000/- per month to 6,000/- rupees per month . Likewise contigency amount should also be enhanced from rs. 10, 000/- per annum to rs. 20,000/-p.a. for meeting expenses of research.

Jasim mohammad, national president of cursa said while submitting memorandum that in these days of high inflation and price rise, it is very difficult to meet-out the expenses. He said that it is a very geniune demand and hrd minister should pay attention to it seriously otherwise movement will be launched to get it.
