Jun 06-08 : AMU-VC Listens to Our Cry? Print E-mail
Written by M. Sajjad
Thursday, 05 June 2008

We often ask ourselves, does the Vice Chancellor listen to our cry. This is a matter of satisfaction and justice that  he does.

I, [on the alumni networks as well as in the Milli Gazette, Delhi fortnightly, Novemebr 2007, besides in a personal interaction with the VC], had raised an issue that an impartial enquiry should be instituted into the september 2007 upsurges and that it should also investigate whether such crises are engineered by some of the teachers.[The title of the mail/essay was "AMU Crisis: Some Questions from an Insider"]

The VC and the EC has instituted a one member enquiry into the same, under Justice Faizanuddin, ex Judge, Supreme Court of India.

I wish to express my gratitude to the VC (and the EC) for listening to my/our cry. It should however be added that the process has  got delayed. Will it affect the findings of the enquiry? This is a question to be watched.

Regards,
M. Sajjad
Lecturer, History, AMU

Mr. M. Sajjad Lecturer, History, AMU has very rightly
raised the issue of delay affecting the findings of
the enquiry under Justice Faizanuddin, ex Judge,
Supreme Court of India meant to investigate whether
September 2007 upsurges were engineered by some of the
teachers of AMU.

I am given to understand that two resolutions, dated
21.09.2007 and 16.11.2007 to this effect were passed
by the Excutive Council but our Vice Chancellor had
been very very slow to issue a notification relating
to the said Inquiry Commission despite the consent of
Mr.Justice Faizanuddin given several months ago

According to my experience and personal views, delay
in such matters does affect the Enquiry and delivery
of justice adversely. I trust that our Hon'ble Vice
Chancellor would certainly focus his attention towards
this important and serious issue without any fruther
dealy.

Wassalam,
