May 06-08 : AMU Entrance Test centres: Why not in Bihar?... Print E-mail
Written by Mohammad Sajjad

May I know the rationale behind not having Patna as centre for entrance tests to various courses of AMU?

This is a well known fact that next to UP, Bihar sends the highest number of students to AMU. Moreover, as Bihar has not been given any central university, by every justification, it has stronger claim.

I would propose to have at least four more centres for AMU Entrance tests. They should be: Patna, Lucknow, Delhi, and Hyderabad.

We have reasons to believe that compared to any other centre for entrance tests, Patna would have attracted largest number of candidates.

Those, who apprehend any unwelcome eventuality in the case of Bihar, with regard to tests, they must know that UPSC ,IIT and any other august bodies [conducting various tests/recruitment exams], don't have such complaints against Bihar.

May one hope, such a glaring regional injustice will be rectified?

regards,
Mohammad Sajjad

Dr Sajjad's axiomatic wisdom needs serious debate as to why AMU's entrance test centre has not been allocated to the state of Bihar, which contributes size-able students' strength to the University. It is also very intriguing that Hyderabad and Lucknow didn't find place. But,the question to inclusion of Delhi in the list does not seem appropriate as its proximity to Aligarh never troubles one to go there easily. Now, the time has come one shouldlook beyond the narrow considerations of a regional plank. Thus, effortsneed to be made to make AMU an institution of national character rather than limiting its scopeto a particular region, ie, north India. And for the purpose, seven sisters should also be given due recognition because India resides there also.Percentage of Assam'sMuslim population is more than all those states where test centres have currently been allotted. But who cares...it all sounds likegrotesque tendency of League's leadership. Patna is 554 Km away from Calcuttawhereas Guwahati covers 997 Km,ie, almost double distance. It means still Patna is nearer toCalcutta than Guwahati. Assam possesses 30.92% Muslims whereas Bihar 16.5%,once again almost double the percentage of Bihar. But,no hue and cry. why?Though everyone knows well the aims and objectives of the so called minority status of the Aligarh Muslim University. Or should the University of the Muslims of India be restricted to the Urdu speaking region only? Or should it be reduced to a trash? Of course, not now till its coffer is supported by the Government of India.Aligarh's north Indian hegemony must have to be ceased to throw its portals opento provide accessibility toall across the country. Anyway, present strides of theperson atthe helm of affairsare really commendable because hitherto it was likeheretic to talk of opening a few more test centres across the length and breadth of the nation.

Better late than never.

Assalamo Alaikum
The test centre should be alloted to any state on the basis of the number of Muslim population in numerical terms not on the basis of ratio of population to the respective state population.
Other hand we have to also see that what number of studetns coming from a particular area?
so,on the basis of both my senior Sajjad sahib is right.
other hand now the administration has decided to four test centres so,let put our united effort to make it a grand success.we all are one.so,success and failure will be also one for us.Next time may we all have four more centres as adviced by my senior.

Centre for AMU entrance test at Madarsa College, Kolkatta is located in one of the fielthiest locality in world and quite unbearable for a normal person. While deciding the centre, proper information need to be obtained by the authority. More over, address of centres were not given causing lot of harrasment and anxieties to candidates.
