Through this Alumni Network of AMU, I seek to draw the attention of our honourable Vice Chancellor to the following:
We are told that the Post Graduate courses in Biochemistry and Forensic Sciences in the JN Medical College&Hospital(JNMCH)is running since 1983 but due to violation of the rules of the Medical Council of India (MCI), the courses are not recognized by the MCI. The violation pertain to the recruitment of the teaching faculty, where the MCI categorically provides that not less than 50% of the teaching faculty in the relevant discipline should have their PG (and higher ?) qualification from a medical college rather than from general sciences.
Similarly, for the Forensic Sciences, without autopsy facility, the course is not recognized by the MCI. This particular condition has probably been fulfilled by the JNMCH,AMU, recently.
But in the case of the PG course in Biochemistry (JNMCH, AMU)the MCI rules have been violated, therefore, the pass outs are facing a career crisis. This particular violation has also been pointed out by the Justice Mathew Report(1998).
It is therefore need of the hour that our Honourable Vice-Chancellor should look into the matter and should do the needful at the earliest. Needless to say, a highly funded educational institution having such a historic repute should not hang the career of the students in balance.
May we hope that our honourable VC, so much committed to academic excellence, would take care of the career of the students?
With great Regards, Dr Mohammad Sajjad Lecturer, Department of History AMU, Aligarh.
