The latest Sachar Committee reports have triggered a new debate; whether Muslims in India need reservation? The matter in the campus got a momentum when Times of India today interpreted the views of Vice-Chancellor, Naseem Ahmad, as against reservation. The paper quoting VC and noted historian Prof. Irfan Habib wrote, “The solution to deprivation of community members lay in spending more on education rather than introducing quota”.
It should be noted that the general view in the campus as elsewhere is pro reservation. Echoing this Dr. Mohammad Shahid Ex. Secretary AMU Teacher’s Association said that the Government should act in accordance to the findings and recommendations of the Committee.
