Exhibition and Painting Competition on SS Day

Aligarh & Sir Syed Section of Ibn Sina Academy (Aligarh, India) organised all Schools’ Painting Competition on 17th October 2007. 71 students from different schools participated in the competition.

Mr. Pramoad Kumar, President, Indian Diecasting Industries, Aligarh, inaugurated an exhibition of rare and aged-old publications on Aligarh and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Old editions of Sir Syed's books and other publications of 19th century were specifically arranged on this occasion. Many a people of different walks of life specifically appreciated those publications and souvenirs being published on Sir Syed Day by different AMU Alumni Associations from different cities of India and abroad.

Complete files of 1874 and 1875 of Tahzibul Akhlaq, Aligarh Monthly 1908, many magazines during the era of MAO College, and all periodicals of Aligarh Magazines since 1947 both in Urdu and English language, letters of eminent Aligarians and postal stamps on Sir Syed and Aligarh were also kept for public viewing.

Painting competition on Sir Syed, his sayings and of his companions, University Buildings was held under three groups. Dr. Madhu Rani (Chairperson, Department of Fine Arts, AMU, Aligarh), Mr. S. Sarfraz Zaidi (Former PG Teacher of Arts, City High School, AMU, Aligarh) and Mr. S. H. Zahid Jamal (Artist, Department of Pharmacology, JN Medical College, AMU, Aligarh) evaluated and adjudged the paintings of all the children.

The prizes were distributed to the following winners by Mr. Pramoad Kumar, Er. Ahmad Rais Siddiqui (Manager, NTPC Ltd, New Delhi) and Dr (Mrs) Madhu Rani.

Group A (Class I – III), 1st prize was bagged by Asadullah Khan of OLF, 2nd prize by Humera Rais of Blossoms School, 3rd prize by Talha Rahim of Ayesha Tarin Public School and Special Prize by Mooneeza of OLF.  From Group B (Class IV – VI), 1st prize by Tahreen of Blossoms School, 2nd prize by Afeefa Mugheez of OLF, 3rd prize by Ali Imam of OLF and special prize by Bhavya Singh of Ayesha Tarin Public School. From Group C (Class VII – X), 1st prize by Nazish Ali of Aligarh Public School, 2nd prize by Arnam Prakash of OLF, 3rd prize by Moonis Hashmi of St Fidelis and Special prize by Yusra Jamal of AMU Girls High School. Consolation Prize were awarded to Gulfishan of Blossoms School and Ahmad Abdullah Jamil of OLF.

At tea break, Mr. Atul Agarwal, President, Rotary Lock City, donated a pen-set of his grandfather Late Mr. Gopal Krishan Agarwal (Kothi Wale) to Prof Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman, President, Ibn Sina for the Museum. Before all these events, Founder President, Ibn Sina Academy Prof Syed Zillur Rahman, welcomed and thanked all guests of honours.

Dr. Shaukat Nihal Ansari, Er. Mohd Adnan Khan, Dr. Abdul Latif, Dr. Samina Malik, Dr. Tasawwer Hussain, Mrs Safia Akhtar, Dr. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Dr. Misbahuddin, Dr. Amrit Goel, Mrs. Nazneen Rahman, Dr. Mohd Aslam and Mr. Mohd Ayub were the main helping hands for the success of the above  function.
