May 30-07 Scholarships to Young Artistes Print E-mail

1. The Ministry of Culture invites applications from Indian nationals for award of Scholarships to Young Artistes for the year 2007-2008

2. Under this Scheme, a total of 400 Scholarships are awarded each year to Young Artistes in different cultural fields in (i)Indian Classical Music(ii) Indian Classical Dance (iii)Theatre (iv)Visual Arts and(v)Folk, Traditional and Indigenous Arts

3. The selected awardees will be required to undergo advanced training on a full-time basis for two years under a reputed Guru/Institute within one month of the award of Scholarship.

4. As the Scholarships are awarded for advanced training, the candidate should have undergone a minimum of 5 years training with their Gurus/Institutes. The Certificates to this effects in Part II of the Proforma duly signed by the present Guru/Institute and former Guru/Institute (if any) should be submitted along with the application.

5. The Scholarship carries a value of Rs.2000/- per month and is tenable for a period of two years which is not extendable. Artistes in the age group of 18-25 (eighteen to twenty five) years as on 1.4.2007 are eligible to apply.

please type out and complete your application in accordance with the following format and forward it to the Section Officer, S&F Section, Department Of Culture Room No.333,’C’-Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi- 110001, so as to reach on or before 30.06.2007.

PLEASE INDICATE IN BLOCK LETTERS ON TOP OF THE ENVELOPE-APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP TO YOUNG ARTISTES.

INSTRUCTIONS:-

a. In case of Visual Arts, six photographs (post-card size) of their recent works and in case of Music one audio cassette of the applicant’s renderings should be attached with the application tightly with a tag.

b. Candidates applying in the field of Visual Arts in all the fields except Sculpture should have minimum qualification of Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent. In Sculpture no minimum qualification is prescribed. An attested copy of the Degree of BFA or equivalent may be enclosed.

c. An attested copy of birth-certificate (School leaving certificate) must be enclosed.

d. Original Certificate/ testimonials MUST NOT BE SENT but produced at the time of interview.

e. Books/ Brochures/ Write-ups etc. MUST NOT BE SENT. No request for return of any document sent with the application shall be entertained

f. A short note on Gharana/ Sampradaya/ Special School (Sakha) in case of Music and Dance may be indicated

g. CANDIDATE WHO HAS ALREADY AVAILED SCHOLARSHIP IN ANY FIELD UNDER THIS SCHEME NEED NOT APPLY AGAIN.

h. After selection under this Scheme, no request for change of Guru/institute shall be entertained except in exceptional circumstances.

i. If a candidate awarded Scholarship is found ineligible for it at any later stage, the Scholarship so awarded to him will be liable to be cancelled.

j. This advertisement along with the format is also available on our website: www.indiaculture.nic.in. The names of the candidates selected under this Scheme will also be available on this website after the selection process is completed.

k. Candidates must fill up the CODE NUMBERS correctly wherever applicable.

l. The applications filled in regional languages must be accompanied with English or Hindi Translation.
