Since last few days Canteens has become an issue in the Campus. The contractors without any restriction are observing the irregularities both in prices and the quality.

The fact came in the limelight when some students were asked to pay more than the market rate for the cold drinks. While the market rate is @ Rs. 10 per bottle of 300ml the canteen charged Rs.11. The students then asked the contractor to follow the price list on which the agreement with the University Authorities has been signed.

According to that the Canteen has to sell the products (packed and branded) on MRP written on the product. But the contractors are not following it and it is not the case with Central Canteen but the others like JDO Canteen and JNMC Canteen are doing the same. Tabish Khan, Court Member Faculty of Medicine has sought detailed information regarding the facilities provided by the University and the price list fixed by them for various canteens through RTI.
