Challenges to the new V.C. Print E-mail

With the decision of ongoing court meeting any candidate in panel of honorable V.C. is one step behind to be the next commander of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Due to changing nature of the time from the last few years the new honorable Vice Chancellor has to face the following challenges.

1. The first and foremost task is how to bring the different faction of the teacher community on one plate form. From many years there was tradition that every lobby brought own vice chancellor and if any vice chancellor did not from any lobby then every lobby try to bring him in his lobby and for this they played politics to defame other group and if any vice chancellor tried to create own group then every lobby started halla-bol on vice chancellor with different strategy to make his time violent. So, here the new vice chancellor should look for right person in his group to run the administration, here in university there are some person who praise each other to before vice chancellor to help each other to get some position in administration. In university there are very good professor to whom I have weeping while there is any disturbance in the university. but they are not getting and not coming forward due to their gentle nature. so, let a call to them for university.
  

2. The second problem is related to student union. from many years this union became a launching pad for the students to join a political party. The situation became worse when some Mafia type group of university made an alliance with the so called students leader and working as pressure group and making function of university impossible. So, there must be clear cut policy with regard to student union and for this there must strict rule and high hand ness to stop all sort of stunt acting in the campus during the election time.

3. Let understand to the students that they are here to get knowledge, manner and all round development of the personality and for this there is need to look the class teaching, attendance and examination of the university. if the students will engage in class and examination I do not think that they will time to involve themselves in petty politics. Ad for this there is need to reform in the examination process and need to break the patronizing process of attendance and question paper. The policy of external examination paper should be adopted to break this system. The student community should be taken into confidence to marginalize those teachers who are more interested in politics than teaching. JDO in recent time producing many problems for the university administration. There must be a mechanism to control the activities of this organization which paralyze the function of medical college and its very purpose.

4. Another area of challenge is the property o f university. The evil design of the private builders and some internal elements making the situation of the university worse.

5. In few years the external pressure of some communal political parties and the students wings attached to it trying to interfere in the functioning of the university and it did not even missing a change to defame the university .The idea behind is to defame this university in such a bad way that minority community leave to send their wards. For many years many external group are working inside of the university.

6. In my study I have found that 90% problem of violence are product of all those students who are failure of different class. The hostel administration and the department attached to it not functioning very well. The students parents are not informed by the university authority about the failure and conduct of the students. There must be fatherly attitude provost and warden to look the hall and hostel. In case of any indiscipline that must be deal strictly. why the indiscipline activities on rise because we always took lenient action which encouraged the other students to do indiscipline. The provost and warden should be given some more power. The list of boarders should be updated every year and external person cannot be allow to use the hall at any time. The dhaba of the university must be close at 10 p.m.

7. The policy of keeping the students of particular courses in one hall is producing bad result. see Allama Iqbal hall .what the problem our young bright students are facing. let the aim of culture and education to know each other should be there.

8. The working culture of registrar office is not up to mark and good for a university like A.M.U.

9. The problem of security in the university is not a product of single cause but it is multi causes. An I hope that the above challenges will uproot the indiscipline activities in the university.

10. The up gradation of the teaching ,curriculum, examination, introduction of new courses particularly in  banking, management, media, paramedical, computer, bio-technology etc needs the attention of new Vice-Chancellor.

on the basis of my long teaching experience at amu and other universities i can safely say that the
vc's office is the main source of irregularities as most of them
dont have any concept of aligarh movement,they behave as autocrates,
commit nepotism and favourtism,promote their chamchas and even indulge in financial bungling through member incharges especially mic biuldings etc

It is very disturbing problem of Minorities institutions about the nepotic groupism.
AMU is also maligned with this filthy mud.
The appointments in AMU are done with too much biasing. Cousine, Wife, and brothers are appointed in different departments. If anybody will study deeply the relationship of
Professors, REaders and LEcturers he will find all the truth.
This has brought a big loss to the community.
1- The contribution of the AMU in interenational journal is negligible in comparison of the big size of this univeristy.
2- The educational level of university is lowering day by day.
3- Few groups are affecting the university educational atmosphere. They seem religious entities, but they have power of will to influence many appointments and selections.
4- Backward classes are still unable to have reasonable participation in the staff.

The problems our Alma mater(Nourishing mother!) is confronting are far from any description. Sadly, the cause of these problems lies somwhere within us.
The question we all must ask ourselves is: Do we need someone to correct us all the time? Is the affection and pain for the university not enough to keep us straight.
Let us all pledge before throwing anymore dirt on each other that:
1. We shall all arrive on our duties at the right time and not leave early.
2. We shall all do our job concensciously and realize each day that this effort will bring our lost fame and respect back.
3. We shall all stop falsely praising all that is not to be praised ( e.g. our incapable superiors)

The list goes on but lets start with a few things and Allah shall guide us through the rest. Last thing to do stop criticising others because it takes your gaze away from yourselves.

The new VC have to b very diplomatic in handling students and academic staffs of AMU. He should be authoratative at one hand and soft on the other hand. The entire AMU is very delicate in nature. He has to embrace the AMU students and teachers with both arms. A little affection could do wonders for him. I wish him all the BEST!
