In a very dramatic manner the candidate who received the highest number of votes both in EC and Court is amidst the controversy. Prof PK Abdul Aziz who almost became the unanimous choice of both EC and Court securing 25 and 104 votes respectively is caught in plagiarism.

OUTLOOK a weekly news magazine in its latest issue(dated May 14 2007) wrote about some of the heavy weights accused of indiscriminate borrowing in its research. One of them is Prof. P K Abdul Aziz present Vice Chancellor of Cochin University of Science and Technology and the first choice of AMU Court and EC.

The magazine writes: “Another high profile complaint before the SSV this year has come from a former director of an institution under the Cochin University of Science and Technology. He accuses vice-chancellor P K Abdul Aziz of fudging details in his dossier that earned him his doctor of science (D Sc) degree in 2004.
He alleges that Aziz cited collective work, specially those where he is not the leading author, as his own. He also passed off his writing, published in magazines, as research papers that were carried in scientific journals. A complaint has already been sent by the Cochin University Employees’ Association to the Governor of Kerala. The SSV has asked the complainant for copies of the documents cited so that they may proceed with the investigation.”
(14 May 2007 OUTLOOK p.p 12).

SSV- the Society for Scientific Values; an independent scientific community watchdog. The revelation has along with another things has definitely put a question mark on the sincerity of AMU Court and EC. Both the bodies are responsible for the major decision to be taken by the University and in such situation it becomes their responsibility to keep themselves aware of the latest developments in the concerns.

The Alig Community will definitely ask questions from the members that whether they were aware of the allegations on Prof. Aziz. If they knew it then why this blind support and if they are unaware of it then how can they propose the name of person without knowing the facts about him in any case they have failed to deliver.
