After long debates and much discussion the AMU Court finally voted for the three names to be sent to the President of India for the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor of the University.
In the meeting held at NRSC Club the members closely viewed the five names forwarded by the Executive Council. It is to be noted that the EC had yesterday voted to select five names from the nine nominations from which the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. M Saleemuddin withdrew.
The Council then voted for the rest eight of the members. The members who were elected for the panel were Cochin University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) P K Abdul Aziz (25 votes), Prof. S M Illiyas, Director, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management Hyderabad (20 votes), Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lieuant General Zaheeruddin Shah (19 Votes), Prof Munirul Hassan from Guwhati University (18 votes) and Dr.S N Pathan Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University (15 votes). Other than this those who could not make to the list of five are Prof Jaleez Tarin (13 votes), Prof Muzaffar A Siddiqi, Proctor AMU (12 votes) and Prof. Akhtar Wasi (7 votes).
The AMU Court met today to vote for the final three, they are Prof. (Dr.) P K Abdul Aziz, Lieuant-General Zaheeruddin Shah and Dr.S N Pathan now from these three the President will give his consent for the one who will make to the coveted post. |
