Jamat E Islami Hind, AMU Area organized a symposium on “Gender Disparity and Islam” in the staff club.

Speaking on the occasion Mohammad Zaffar, All India General Secretary of Jamat E Islami Hind pinpointed the role of media in enlightening the society against the gender biasness. He said that though Islam does not make any distinction between son and daughter as far as education of the child is concerned in practice boy get preference over girl child. He said such situation has arisen from various socio-economic conditions of which poverty is the main. He held the West responsible for it.

Other speakers too talked about the rights of women in Islam. Prof. Saud Alam Qasmi, Chairman Department of Sunni Theology insisted that it is the duty of men to ensure that the women get all their rights.
