The ongoing crisis in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus has left the general students in a state of total confusion. After yesterday’s notification postponing the examinations scheduled for 19th April the confusion has further deepened. Now it is widely believed that there are some Professors who for their vested interests are politicizing the whole episode.
The propaganda that the prevailing situation may lead to Zero Session or Sine die is becoming the part of general belief. As a matter of fact three – four students are demanding the permission for appearing in the examination from which they were debarred earlier for involvement in various unlawful activities. But the term for which they were suspended is over yet they are being denied the permission.
The DSW in a statement has said that only the Academic Council could take up the matter, which is scheduled to be on 27th April 2007. The current situation is the result of some of the Professors who are cunningly exploiting the situation against their adversaries.
The Controller and the Proctor being the prime target. It is to be noted that Mr. Naseem Ahmad in his stay as Vice Chancellor has used Section 19(c) of Aligarh Muslim University Act, 1982 for more than 2750 times for petty concerns, then why the same clause is not being used now when the career of thousand of students are at stake?
The reason is quiet clear these people, the Professors, want that they are able to bring the new Vice Chancellor of their own choice may it come at any cost. In all these tussle for power the real sufferer remains the general student and especially the final year students who are at the end of their academic programs and about to embark on careers or who are planing for their higher qualifications. |
