In a very unprecedented way the teachers of Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology and University Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) arranged Qurankhwani in the College premises. They said that in last few years the Selection Committees have not been held in the College and so the Qurankhwani. Shar-Mufti Janab Assadulla Khan who supplicated for fulfilling the wishes of the teacher also attended the Qurankhwani.

The urgency of the Selection Committee was felt in the view that the UGC might change the rules of promotion under Career Advancement Scheme and if this happens then some Readers who are eligible to become Professor as per existing rules might be left out. The teachers argued that if the University Administration takes an interest in this these Readers could become Professors very easily.

On the other hand Ministry of HRD (Department of Secondary and Higher Education) Govt. of India has given strict instructions to the Heads/Chairmen regarding Selections/Promotions. It states, “The Competent Authority has directed that the Heads/Chairmen of the Organization under the control of this Department should refrain from initiating any action to make selections/promotions two-three months before the expiry of their term or retirement.” The Vice Chancellor is completing his term by the mid of this year.
