An FIR regarding the irregularities in publishing the research paper in “Aligarh Journal of English Studies” has been logged by Dr. (Mrs.) Raihan Raza, Reader, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
In her complaint Dr. Raihan Raza has alleged that Prof. M.M. Adnan Raza, Ex-Chairman, Department of English has done undue favour to some of the faculty members intended to hamper her claim for Professorship. It is to be noted that by rules the candidate who have applied for Professorship under CAS must have five research publications in a reputed Journals.
The charges allege that Prof. M. M. Adnan Raza became Chairman of the Department of English vide office memo no. Admin/LD/2679/T dated 16. 12. 2003 on 17. 12. 2003. Volume 25, no. 1 & 2 (April - October), 2003 was published in Oct. 2003 according to the "Aligarh Journal of English Studies". In October 2003 Prof. M. M. Adnan Raza was not the Chairman of the Department of English. This Journal is published by the Chairman on behalf of the Department of English.
Aligarh Journal of English Studies, Vol. 27, No. 1 &2 (April - October), 2005 was published on Sept. 12, 2006 according to University records. People eligible for promotion under CAS for Professorship have been given the benefit of its having published in 2005.
In fact according to University records vol. 25, no. 1 & 2, 2003, vol. 26, no. 1 & 2, 2004 and vol. 27, no. 1 & 2, 2005 of the "Aligarh Journal of English Studies, have been published in February 2005, January 2006 and September 2006 respectively. All those candidate who have applied for Professorship under CAS whose articles have been published in these volumes of Aligarh Journal of English Studies are being given the benefit of their articles having been published earlier than when they were actually published.
Moreover, the aforesaid Journal itself according the records from the Registrar of Newspaper, Govt. of India, has been de-blocked. The Journal was initially registered and owned by Prof. AA Ansari and it has nothing to do with the Department of English and Aligarh Muslim University. While Prof. Adnan Raza has declared Aligarh Muslim University as its owner in the Journal.
