Jamia Millia Islamia once again feel the heat of agitation. But this time sincerity makes it different from the previous agitations. Jamia teachers association along with the non-teaching staff and old boys association try to mobilize the people to struggle for minority status of Jamia Millia Islamia. Today at 9 pm they call a meeting in Ghaffar Manzil to inform the resident about the recent development in the case. Mr. Shams Tabrez Sect. Of Jamia teacher association said that it is very unfortunate that Jamia administration is going to implement new education policy of India while our constitution gives us freedom to run this institution for the betterment of muslim community in Article 30.
Jamia was established in 1920 with the motive to educate Indians particularly muslims, It was founded by Indian muslims for modern education without loosing their identity. Jamia has become central university in 1988, since then a huge amount energy has spent on the debate of Jamia’s minority status. People who are against of it saying that since Jamia getting 100% fund from the government so it cannot reserve seat for one section of the nation. But the ruling of Supreme Court in 2002 has said that even if an institution getting 100% fund from the govt. can reserve 50% seat for the community for which the institution was establish.
Many prominent people of Ghaffar manzil give full assurance to cooperate for this cause. They said that they will do their best to fight against those who tries to snatch this great legacy from the innocent community.
