“National Symposium on Sports Physiology” Print E-mail

Department of Physiology of Jawahar Lal Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a “National Symposium on Sports Physiology” on Saturday, 13th March 2010. According to Organizing Secretary Prof. D.K. Agrawal around 100 Scientists from all over the India are coming to Jawahar Lal Medical College to attend this Symposium.

Prof. A.K. Banerji, Vice-Chancellor, Kalyani University will deliver the keynote address. Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, Vice­ Chancellor, AMU will inaugurate and preside over the function. President of Indian Physiotherapists Association, Dr. Ali Irani will be the Guest of Honour. Dr. Ali Irani has been associated with Indian Cricket Team for long time. He will deliver a lecture on Brain Mapping of Sports Persons. In this Symposium, various scientists will discuss on topics like Sports and Exercise Physiology, Psychological effects on Sports Performance, Circadian rhythm and Yoga etc. Symposium will have two panel discussions. Topic for one panel discussion is “Psychological Effects on Sports Persons”. This panel discussion will be coordinated by Prof. Jaowad Ali Khan, Professor & Head, Department of Physical Health and Sports Education, AMU.

Famous Sports Psychologist and Ex-Dean, Faculty of Physical Education, University of Kerala will take part in this discussion. Other participants of this panel discussion are Prof. Abu Qamar, Chairman, Department of Psychiatry, Prof. Akbar Husain, Department of Psychology & Dr. Shraddha Singh, King George Medical College Lucknow.

“Physiotherapy in Sports” is the topic for other panel discussion. This panel discussion will be coordinated by Chairman, Department of Orthopedics, Prof. Khalid Sherwaini & his team. Prof. M.B. Jani from Vadodara, Prof. Asha Gandhi from New Delhi, Prof. N.S. Verma and Prof. Neena Srivastava from Lucknow, Dr. Jyoti Trivedi from Dehradun are also participating in this Symposium.

As this Symposium is being organized just before Common Wealth Games 2010, various discussions in this Symposium 'will help sports persons to improve their performance-in these games.
