It is correct that no violence has taken place on the AMU campus during the Dharna, but we have serious fear that some outside elements would set off the students, thus posing a vital danger to peace this is why we have to resort to such an extreme step of ordering closure of the university. And more over talks with the students has not worked out well : Prof. P K Abdul Azis, Vice- chancellor, AMU, Aligarh

AMU administration should resign ? |

Closing the university twice in last two years due to indiscipline is not is not acceptable and is a total failure of administration. In this current situation, I have started believing that the biggest threat to the University is not from the indisciplined students but in fact, from the inefficient administration. I appeal to VC sahib, Registrar, Finance Controller, Controller of exams and Proctor to voluntarily resign. The new team should assess the academic situation and replace all the deans and provosts. A complete shake up of the administration is required. Ahtasham Rizvi Mississauga, ON Canada

This is the amateure cowardice step taken by the AMU-VC and administration. The hypothesis of Vice Chancellor is totally wrong that the students will be uncontrolled and they can probably vandalised the VC lodge or Adminstration Building. This decision of VC shows that how inefficient he is.Here the person from the Administrative skilled VC can take very proper action but the Academician VC can not.

AMU administration should sit down with the students. So, the students should open a communication channel with the administration. Name calling and emotional decisions will deteriorate the situation further. It will be the ultimate loss of students. Both sides (students and administration) should try to open communication channels and solve the crises without further loss of academic year. Suhaib M. Siddiqi, Ph.D. Wakefield, MA 01880, U.S.A.
